Owls typically will not make nests. They will use the nests left behind by other larger birds like hawks or crows, other tree nesting animals like squirrels, or naturally occurring cavities in trees or rocks.

The closest you will find to an owl building a nest is something like a Short Eared Owl that will scrape a shallow depression in the ground.
