There is no plan in a democracy that resulted in “people do what I want to do.”

Republicans wanted crazy money for a border wall.

trump shut down the government, trump got money for a border wall in like two weeks.

Biden got elected, and now the Dem president wants a border wall and rants about “illegals”…

Why would this work for republicans but not progressives to change the minds of moderate Dems like Biden?

Did you mean that just for progressive causes we can’t change their minds, but they agree more with Republicans than progressives and that’s why it works?

I don’t think, in his heart of hearts, that Biden wants a border wall. I think he calls for one because it’s politically expedient.

I think that progressives would get more done if they had the support that conservatives do. Gay marriage and the widespread adoption of police bodycams are two issues where progressives got their way because they had the support of the majority.

Conservatives have the advantage because doing nothing is easier than making changes. It takes more popular support for progressives to get their way.

I also think that most Dems are closer to Republicans than they are to socialists, so if by progressive you mean the DSA or left of that then the Dems would honestly prefer the Republicans.

So conservatives can get their way with 40-45% popular support, but progressives need 55-65%.

Details matter though, there are counter examples.
