I know this is a shitpost, but honestly I’m so glad I got a vasectomy. There is a history of extreme depression and some dementia in my family, so I decided to get it done so I wouldn’t father a child who would have to live through that. I never got it tested (don’t know if it’s possible to), but discussions with psychiatrists and other doctors confirmed it’s likely at least partially genetic. If I end up with a partner who wants children there are other ways to go about that. I would never force that decision on anyone else but it has really brought me some peace of mind.

Also, vasectomy + female birth control = low risk condom-free sex (provided no STIs obviously). Finally, what a tragic waste of perfectly good…pizza rolls I’m guessing? That’s some “tried cooking while drunk and fell asleep” results.

      Vas team high five.

I just don’t like kids and the spouse has a genetic disease so it’d be 50/50 if the kids had it.

Worst part for me was my kids jumping on me while I was still healing. Otherwise truly no big deal

Don’t be. You’ll be sore for a few weeks, but the operation is less than an hour in total and doesn’t hurt a lot. Once you’re healed, its amazing to not have to worry about “accidents”…

Really glad it made your life better and it def seems very safe by medical and popular standards.

              I’m a scaredy cat, myself:

A tiny little fraction of guys experience chronic pain, then a fraction of those still experience pain after reversal.

Same as LASIK (small percentage experience dry eyes for the rest of their lives): I couldn’t live with myself if it went south and I didn’t NEED it in the first place.

But great for many use cases!
