Reminds me of his appearance on Parks and Rec where his character is initially misjudged as a libertarian/conservative due to his cowboy-like demeanor and off-the-grid lifestyle, but turned out to be a left-leaning hippie instead. The basic idea behind that character being that the right does not have a monopoly on a lot of the “values” they claim to uphold.
