Is there something in particular you want to point out? Because I’m not seeing anything that screams monster.

His politics have shifted of late.

He has defended Boris Johnson when he made an islamophobic dog whistle joke about Muslim women wearing burqas.

He values speech over protecting people. He complains about cancel culture running amok. The subject has some nuance but when defending comedians saying “its just a joke”, its really really shitty. Cancelling famous people for doing and saying racist and misogynist shit is at the root these claims.

The left is going hard on wrong think. Anyone who even so much as disagrees with a college liberal view of the world gets called right wing or Maga. For a bunch of people who claim to be progressive left, they do everything possible to push people away. Same thing happening with Jerry Seinfeld, dude hates Trump and is anti Trump openly, but because he said college kids are too sensitive for comedy these days, (which is true) he’s now getting called “right wing” on other threads

You can be a fascist and be a democrat. See: people like JS’s wife funding violent brownshirts breaking up peaceful protests.

“Monster” seems a little hyperbolic, no?

Is it bad to value speech over protecting people?

Protecting people from feeling offended, not bodily harm. His entire point is that it is a slippery slope trying to police speech when people can be offended by anything. The right to criticize, satirize, and otherwise commentate on ideas is a fundamental part of free speech, and that is all he was trying to defend.

People looking for a scandal here need to go touch some grass for a while.

Not the person you responded to… From reading the wiki article, it seems like that’s in line with other times that he has tried to speak in favor of free speech. I’m not saying Boris was right or ok to make insensitive comments; politicians should be held to higher standards. I would need additional examples. Doesn’t make a difference to me. I never liked his character anyway.

Fair. But good god electeds should have to watch their speech even more. Cheers.
