Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) hailed pop music superstar Taylor Swift amid criticism she is facing from conservatives Wednesday.

“Taylor Swift is a national treasure,” Cheney wrote in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

The conservative side of social media has been flooded with conspiracy theories about the singer, and the speculation that the NFL is fixing games so that Swift and boyfriend Travis Kelce’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, can go to the Super Bowl and win it, and endorse President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign while at the championship football game.

“I wonder who’s going to win the Super Bowl next month,” former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy wrote on X Monday.

Taylor Swift got a bunch of her fans to sign up to vote by posting on her social media pages. Vote.gov gets you started. You don’t even have to like Taylor Swift to vote.

      Taylor seems pretty cool tbh

Taylor Swift is done being apolitical. [In 2018], the pop megastar took to Instagram and endorsed two Democratic candidates up for election in Tennessee.

“I’m writing this post about the upcoming midterm elections on November 6th, in which I’ll be voting in the state of Tennessee,” writes Swift. “In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now. I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country.”

      [Bolding added]

I bet Taylor has been preyed up on by all sorts of creeps throughout her career and when she heard Trump’s Access Hollywood tape in 2016 it made her furious, and rightly so. Having her lead a wave of women revenge voting against all the creepy shitheads out there is one of the best pieces of justice America has given us in a while imo.

Here she is defending herself to her father over writing that letter. Just watch how absolutely genuine she is:

I keep hearing about a Liberal/Conservative gender based split among the younger generation. With women becoming more liberal and men becoming more conservative. Well, I mean, just look at the role models (yes, yes I know any gender can like any person, but just stay with me here). Women are looking up to Taylor Swift, men get stuck with Andrew Tate.

Yeah, I have nothing against her. I think if I sat down and talked to her, we’d be on a fairly similar ground politically. I’m far from “Swifty” status, but my daughter is full fledged Swifty, so I end up hearing a lot of her music. Her lyrics definitely reflect a lot of hatred coming her way, but she dodges it gracefully. It’s pretty inspiring.

I am not a fan of Taylor Swift’s music but I am absolutely a fan of Taylor Swift the person.

Do I have to spend time with her to be a fan of her?

You’re being disingenuous. I never replied to simply being “a fan of her.” I replied to being “a fan of Taylor Swift the person.” This implies a level of intimacy that people can only get if they spend time with others. It would be a different story if they said I am a “fan of what Taylor has done.”

If my father was international war criminal and destroyer of democracy Dick Cheney…

I’d be pretty happy to fade into obscurity

She seems to be staying in politics instead of moving to punditry or lobbying. I’m guessing she’s setting her self up to be a party leader assuming Trumpism fades. More than 40% of the country likes that her dad is a war criminal that shoots old men in the face and she thinks she can get their vote in 2028.

Unpopular opinion: Trump (and his echo chamber) and Liz Cheney are both wrong.

She’s a billionaire either pandering or showing what would under normal circumstances be considered the very minimum of her duty to democracy as a role model.

Also, in my completely subjective opinion, Trouble is a banger, but every single other song of hers I’ve heard has been bland to the point of boredom.

With the yankees having their quadrennial collective breakdown, prepare for the stupidest headlines you’ve ever seen.

Don’t forget to care deeply what Liz Cheney thinks about Taylor Swift otherwise you’re a Trump supporter, and basically a nazi.
