We all are, but baby boomers are half out the exit on the ground floor, standing around drinking coffee and chatting and telling us not to worry as we are all on the 78th floor, some of us on the 165th.

Accurate insofar as no other generations after them did very much about it until the last ten years when everything started to go to shit, aye

The previous generations actively sabotage effective measures. Prosecuting protesters, celebrating consumption, ridiculing the educated. My guidance counselors looked at me like I had two heads when I said I wanted to pursue a science education motivated by climate change over a “career”. What career could I have if society isn’t certain because of constantly shifting weather patterns, climate refugees, and the threat of resource wars? A little bit of any one of these things can throw the whole system off.

You’re right; Gen X has a healthy dose of responsibility too.

Edit: forgive for the lack of nuance. This obviously applies more-so to the capital owners, not your every-day Joe just trying to get by. This, like all things, is heavily aimed at the Haves, not the Have-Nots.

So are we going to get another party in power and remove the corrupt establishment?

Or join the boomers in complacency?

To add, this was my specific jab at my early Gen X mother who was made homeless by the 2008 housing crash. Instead of learning anything, she has elected to buy an island.

            Like a well-adjusted adult.

If she went from being homeless to being able to afford buying an island, that seems pretty well adjusted to me…

Gen X is too small to have much political influence. It took Gen Z coming of age to finally have enough people to out vote the boomers. X, Z, and the mindful millennials is a large enough group to make enough noise for enacting change.

Honestly, genXers got brainwashed into thinking that recycling their plastics and and extra 3 miles to the gallon is enough.

No other generations had enough influence or power until the last few years. Gen X was always massively outnumbered, and Millennials quite often sided with boomers with some sort of weird Stockholm syndrome. Now with Millennials seemingly cured of their Stockholm syndrome, Gen X still existing, and Gen Z being adults, there are finally enough people to out-vote the boomers.
