For reference, this was the Instagram post that got her fired:

“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbours…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbours hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”

So not outright hatred of any other groups, but she’s basically trying to equate “oppressed” Republicans being generally shitty people to Jews during the Holocaust. If anyone in America is promoting hate at this point in time though, it’s Conservatives and Right-wing media.

I started reading knowing nothing about this person or what happened to her, so at first I’m like “ok, this seems reasonable”, “why would you get fired for this”, but there it is, those last two words like a slap in the face that change the entire context of where she was coming from, and going, with that twisted thought…

They always blame marginalised people for “playing the victim”, but there are no bigger victimhood seekers than bigots. It’s projection all the way down.

She needs to be the victim in the scenario and not the Nazi making neighbors hate Trans people.

Republican/conservatives love their macho rugged individualism persona. Fuck your feelings, big trucks, tough guy/gal demeanor.

And in the same breath, they will whine about how they are oppressed because people dislike them for their words and actions that are actively demonizing others. Minorities, LBGT, liberals, name it. They very vocally victimize others and then play victim when called out for it, all while trying to act tough.

It’s like they saw every despicable bully trope on TV, that always ends up tucking tail and running when their comeuppance arrives, and said “yeah, that’s who I want to be”

Projection. The right wing fervently hates liberals and wants to persecute them, so they assume it goes the other way too. It’s always projection.

And if I got drunk in my company’s customer parking lot with a corporate tee shirt on, I’d get fired too 🤷

What she is saying is public, ignorant and specifically objectionable to a lot of Disney fans.

A MAGA actor butthurt that free speech doesn’t mean free from real-world consequences. Disney fired her over some sketchy tweets.

To add to what herrcaptain said, her saying that being a Republican in Hollywood was like being a Jew during the Holocost seemed to have been the breaking point.

Before that she also made a lot of tweets making fun of pronouns and such too, but nothing overtly hateful, so she had managed to skate by until she upped the stupidity.

She’s some unknown actress who worked for Disney until she started spewing republican anti-Jewish hatred on Twitter.

The Elon Musketeer has offered to pay all lawyer bill for anyone getting fired for posting “fREE sPeECh” on X, and he publicly stated that he was honoured to pay the bills for this desperate woman.

It wasn’t Republican anti-Jewish hatred. She was comparing being a Republican to being a Jew in Nazi Germany.

Disney fired her after a long, long string of tweets espousing views they didn’t like. Gina is anti-mask, she expressed great disappointment at Biden winning election & urged that voter fraud laws/measures be put in place, she made fun of adding pronouns to Twitter profiles.

Disney warned her multiple times to tone things down, and after the Republican-Jew comparison, Disney fired her.

One could argue that comparing being MAGA to being a jew in the holocaust is anti-jew. But either way, her employer didn’t like her public shitposting and she lost her job, that’s how it works.

But hasn’t Elon fired his own employees for tweets he didn’t like? Generally anything critical of him?

She was an actress on the Mandalorian(?)

She got fired for a tweet that was very hyperbolic and in bad taste.

The suit is basically for unfair firing and defamation.

Carano is claiming wrongful discharge and sexual discrimination, seeking $75,000 in damages and a court order that would reinstate her on the hit series.

Oh buddy. Too broke to afford lawyers, only asking for $75k. I guess she took too many hits to the head during her fights, everyone knows you shoot high and let the judge adjust down if you win. Know your own value I guess, and Gina is signaling that she’s not worth much

The suit details that Carano was required by Disney to meet with a representative from the LGBTQ+ group Glaad after online behaviour that was seen as anti-trans, yet she refused. She was then asked to meet with a group of LGBTQ+ Disney employees but again refused and was fired soon after.

She got offered an easy out after posting her screed, and refused to even sit and talk with Glaad rep. Because she would have to listen and couldn’t argue or shout them down, and that’s political persecution

Her acting is okay, her social media presence is super toxic and puts the show into the headlines for reasons unrelated to the show. Disney have a pretty solid case for dismissal here, when will these dumbfucks realize that it’s not a liberal v conservative issue - it’s genuinely just your hate speech

Exactly, a butt hurt Maga nut sad that he/she can’t get away with immoral nutjob language that harms and harrasses other people. These imbeciles tend to slap the label “woke” on any consequences that befall their small brained and inhumane actions. And I’m glad it gets under their creepy tightywhity skin so deeply.

In February 2024, Carano filed a lawsuit against Lucasfilm over her firing. The suit was funded by Elon Musk who had previously promised to support anyone who suffered employment discrimination because of what they posted on Twitter

I think they made some wild statements when they fired her instead of the usual “After careful consideration…” HR text that everyone gives when letting people go. Given Elon has some deep pockets and doesn’t shy away from burning money for dumb spite projects, they may have a shot of getting somewhere with Disney.
