Donald Trump will soon receive controversial information from Special Counsel Jack Smith after the judge overseeing the former president’s criminal case over classified documents stashed at Mar-a-Lago, Judge Cannon, ordered the prosecutor to deliver the data.

Earlier on Friday, Cannon paused deadlines in a controversial order that special counsel Jack Smith had condemned as a “clear error” in the ex-president’s classified document case, according to court records and reports. Earlier this week, Cannon ordered Smith to deliver to her by Friday proposals for unredacted FBI interview witness reports that could appear on the public docket.

Smith warned about threats to people involved in the case, causing the earlier pause. But later on Friday, Cannon said the information still must be delivered to Trump and other defendants in the case, including Walt Nauta, according to the court docket.

I think she just overplayed her hand. Smith has already said that she has made a clear error and asked her to reconsider. When she refuses to change her mind, he will appeal this ruling and win and she will be reprimanded yet again. The appeals court can decide, if they feel the error is egregious enough, to replace her. I hope Smith is just giving her enough rope to hang herself.

That’s the goal. Keep it unresolved until after the election. Then Trump’s new AG will kill it, is their hope. Trump then gives Cannon a pat on the head and a cookie.

Hey remember when a judge doing something shady would get the state bars and other judges involved?

I’m only in my 30s but I remember.

I also remember a time when something as simple as a lie will lead to impeachment.

Now we have president’s who start lying before they even hit the campaign trail, lie while being elected NOT by the people, lie while in office and literally do federal crimes in the process, lie with more federal crimes after you lose an election, lie with more federal crimes including treason before the group tells you you lost, lie after you leave, and do tons more crimes

And it takes FOUR FUCKING YEARS JUST FOR PEOPLE WHO EVEN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT

And what even more insane is that nobody seems to care. Sure they post all angrily about it but ultimately do nothing.

Unions work in jobs, unions will also be quite effective at ousting fascists. You just have to find the right union that won’t get taken out by the Alphabet Boyz. Unfortunately history shows that any time progressives gather and arm, the government trips over itself to criminalize everything and throw them in prison. Sure doesn’t seem like it happens to as many racist, sexist, homo/transphobic, fascist extremists who form their own groups. Guess the cops don’t like arresting their own people.

Yeah you know that stereotype of the white guy driving through certain areas so the black friends can get through without being stopped? Yeah I was the white friend who had to switch with the driver.

And still, it didn’t always work. I even had one time where the sherif of a county in Ohio actually fucking demanded the driver licenses of the all three of the black people in the car. Completely ignoring the other white people, by the way. Couldn’t have possibly made it more obvious what he was doing.

Being as white as I am (and young as I was) , I felt perfectly fine arguing with him about that because we don’t live in nazi Germany or fascist “stop and frisk” places, he has no probable cause to even stop us let alone demand the papers of the passengers. But if he likes, I will happily get my family lawyer (lolololol way too poor for that) on the phone, what department should he send his phone bill to?

And we were “allowed” to leave, and when the pig told me “be careful next time” I snapped up (no salute, thank you) and said “jawol, mein fuhrer” and put it in drive.

That was my first first-hand experience with the massive systemic racism in law enforcement. Sure I had heard all about it, and seen it’s effect, knew people who were affected, and completely believed it happens all the time, but I had never been witness to it right in front of me.

Yeah, my hometown was pretty white growing up…

I had an excellent opportunity to teach my daughter about white privilege the other day. I go buy weed at a legal dispensary in Illinois and bring it back to where I live in Indiana. My daughter asked me if I was scared of getting caught and I explained to her that if you’re white, drive a relatively recent car and drive sensibly, a cop probably isn’t going to pull you over, and all three apply to me. But, I also told her, if you’re black, the other two factors don’t even matter. She was already relatively aware of that idea since she’s 13, but it was a great way to explain it with a real-life example.

One of my coworkers is Indian-American and would often travel for work. He said that every time he went to this one place in Oklahoma he would get pulled over.

It was honestly shocking how many times he would come back from those trips and be like, “Yup. Happened again.”

At this point Cannon is probably aware she’s being too blatant in ignoring the law to defend Trump. She probably knows it will be reversed on appeal. But it’s a win-win for her - turn over the witness information is a win for Trump, or delay is a win for Trump. Being reversed later doesn’t have any negative effect for her or Trump.

It’s just a fealty test for her, maybe resulting in a promotion to the Court of Appeals if Trump is elected. If not, she’ll still sit in this judgeship until she dies or retires.

It’s moments like this that really drive home that we probably will spend the rest of our lives either undoing the damage done by the 2016 election and the four years that followed, or living under fascism.

Having most of your rulings overturned isn’t exactly helpful if you want to be appointed to a higher court, but at this point her career path is pretty much shot anyway.

I mean, if a narcissistic sociopath wants to give you a judgeship nomination, and your party controls the Senate and is a bunch of spineless toadies, it doesn’t matter how much you have been overturned. Being overturned is a job qualification for people who want to destroy the existing rule of law.

He just needs to appeal the decision. The appeals court will overrule her, again, sanction her, again, and probably remove her from the case as it is apparent that she is not acting impartially.
