If it won’t go through the washer then it doesn’t deserve to survive.

How did 27 people up vote this?

    What is the joke?

Oh s***, I’m the guy who can do his own laundry.

    Okay never mind thanks.

It’s a matter of whether a piece of cloth can be machine washed or should be washed by hand. What Shadow is saying is that it looks machine washable enough, so he will not bother washing it by hand, even if the instructions said so.

Would it not be a problem if Shadow washed it by hand?

Is the Sonic family aware of how fast they are relative to material limitations?

What if he’s so fast with his hands that he breaks the clothes more than the washing machine would? The point of hand washing is to be gentle with delicate pieces. Imagine being so fast but having to slow yourself down for a long period of time just to wash clothes. That would be a boring life.

ah you haven’t had to deal with women’s clothing I see. A significant portion is hand wash only, esp if it’s even vaguely nice. Tho some random regular shit is still slapped with hand wash only.

So you’ve got a ton of hand wash only stuff, and you live in a shack because that’s all you can afford in this society. So you have the kitchen sink (gotta clean the sink real good, an extra hassle) or a collapsible (collapses in use on occasion) wash bin to do hand wash in, yet you have a ton of wash to hand wash.

So you channel shadow and divine what is machine washable and what isn’t to bring the hand wash burden back to reasonable!

Very rarely, a men’s shirt says “lie flat to dry”. I own one. I toss it in the dryer, it’s fine. Don’t do this to anything you really like though, there’s usually a good reason they say that.

        Haha, got it.

Took years, but we have a special delicates washer and delicates are allowed to be cleaned on gentle.

She hand washed for the first few decades of her life though, so I know what you mean.

Knowing how to separate laundry and use different settings and detergents for both laundering and drying (up to and including hanging some items to dry) seems to be as much of a lost art as knowing how to mend you clothes via patching and sewing.

I have shirts that are at least 16 years old and they still look quite nice.
