Same - that was the one that jumped out from the list. Plus getting to fight with and level your dog sounds like loads of fun.

None of the games in their list spoke to me and pretty much none of the ones I looked at on Steam caught my eye. The only one that caught my eye was balatro, and even then, based on gameplay I’ve seen, it doesn’t seem like a game I’d enjoy playing over just watching someone else play instead.

I’ve tried Balatro. It’s pretty fun. But you’re probably also right that it’s a great “watch someone else do the hard work” game.

If you like deck builders, it’s surprisingly good. Takes a while to get going, and it’s not Inscryption that I can tell. But it’s solid and i wound up playing for 2 hours.

Great recommendations. Thank you for sharing. I’ll try out the Lovecraft game and guild saga

When I saw the name I thought it would be a video rental store simulator, which had me way more excited than it should have. The actual game sounds pretty cool and worth checking out but I am a little disappointed. I would still kind of like to see an 80s video rental sim even though I can’t see it having mass appeal.

Yeah, and you could decide whether to stock laser disk, betamax, or VHS and respond to shifting consumer demands for each, while also responding to genre preferences. I’d probably play that, especially if there was a mechanic for opening multiple stores and moving videos between them.

I’ve wanted a more recent take on the Movies for a while actually. I love the concept of it, the weird mix of management game and making your own ridiculous movie clips, but it has glitches and annoying limitations on modern hardware (not least of which, low resolution with no wide screen aspect ratio).

While I agree, I start to get tired of a significant percent of the game industry being reskins on older games. I always wait till they come out and let them convince me they put enough effort in to justify my time again.

Like Dyson Sphere Program. I avoided it and youtubed it up until I knew it managed to transcend being a Factorio Clone, and that the factorio feel dies around the 2 hour mark, leaving 78 hours of completely new content. But had it not done that…ehhhhh

None of these really call out to me. I would probably play half of them if I was still a student up to high school with no worries or obligations though. Not enough games are easy to put down for a long time and come back to during the rare break and still remember everything and not feel like you lost all the practiced skills.
