How many people inserted “best” into that sentence subconsciously?
I read it correctly and then re-read because I felt like I must have missed the word and it would actually be there. Then I read it a third time to really make sure.
The best part of that game was when he said "IT’S CRUIS’N USA TIME’ and cruis’d all over those guys
I think the ‘ever’ implies a ‘best’. You need both or neither.
Does it? You would say that’s one of the ever I had of a steak sandwich, if it was one of the best. It seems like it needs best/worst/mediocre sort of descriptive word in there to make sense. Mean you can guess from the scene and tone but I’d never write it out or even say it that way. Of course I never did well in English and am glad to learn new things.
It could just be sarcasm, like, “it was certainly one of the games of 2024”

Out of all the racing games on the Nintendo 64, that was one of them.

Literally the first thing that pops into my mind when I think about this as well. And you had to do a secret code to get it, even in the arcade! Something to do with turning the wheel a few times and then the gas and brake in a certain order?

That game went so hard! All the tracks were super unique and had a bunch of secrets

That era of arcade games was some of the best ever.

I had my initials in the top spot of so many cruisn world arcade systems in my city. Loved that game.

I really enjoyed Extreme-G, but never hear much about it nowadays.

You can play this game end to end with one hand. What you do with your other hand is your choice!

I just want to mention the SNES port of Race Drivin’, for its much worse arcade to console downgrade, and its slightly less horrific use of an apostrophe.
