If you feel like there was some big mistake when you were created, then let’s just be brutally honest and say that we don’t share the same definition of God.

“God doesn’t make mistakes.”

Like making people trans, right?

“No not like that.”

    Just vile.

“God doesn’t make mistakes, he wants you to have that tumor :) you shouldn’t be trying to go against his will by removing it :)”

TBF there are plenty of religious extremists who would agree with that statement.

Plenty are also anti-vaxx. Partly explains the opposition to universal healthcare in the US too. Goes against their religion.

The bible also says to, and I quote, “treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt”.

Don’t see many Christians arguing for unlimited and unfettered migration, or offering recent migrants equal rights and a passport.

Your interpretation of magical sky daddy is incorrect. Let me read to you the correct interpretation from thousands of years before we understood a fucking thing. There, all better. Money now.

Doing harm to your healthy body and hormones is not the answer. Your healthy body doesn’t need healing. There are other options to help you manage. There are other steps you can take to help your mind not be at war with your body.

“Other options.” “Other steps.” What are they? No mention whatsoever.

Conversion therapy is probably what they mean.

      Which.

      There’s a reason they’re not saying that.

Still talking out of both sides of their mouth in a sad attempt to what? Get money from trans people? Start a brave trans movement where trans people live their life as their birth gender but believe they are the other? I just don’t get what they think this kind of nonsense is gonna do for them?

They used to be and still think of themselves as the world’s dominant religion. Their decline really began a few hundred years ago but, previously being at the head of a thousand year empire, they have some staying power and the Catholic Church is still the world’s largest religious organization. Their decline has accelerated in the past few decades. They are now losing members much more quickly than they can breed new ones.

Their shift to a generally more progressive and accepting stance is an attempt to stem the flow of younger members leaving the church. They see that the world, especially the parts with disposable income that could be donated to the church, rejects much of their conservative belief system and are attempting to soften it to keep younger members without abandoning it which would run off the members that they’ve spent decades scaring into following the “one path to salvation”.

The problem is that if they become too progressive, they lose the extremist conservatives too. Some of them are already angry about the Catholic mass not being in latin or have flown off into anti-vaxx adjacent lands.

This isn’t for trans people. This is for young Christians that KNOW trans people. This is something they can keep in the back of their head when someone says “How can you support a church that hates trans people?!” They can confidently say that the church doesn’t hate them and they no longer have to think about possibly being “the bad guy”.

Genesis 6:6 And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

Looks like he made a mistake and knew about it right there in the beginning.

That’s it! He’s not a loving sky daddy. He’s a mad scientist whose experiments have gotten out of control and DESPITE his efforts, we just keep surviving his attempts to eradicate his mistake.

That’s what really gets me about it. There is absolutely room in a religious framework, a catholic framework even, to just be normal and respectful to trans people. These people are so lacking in self awareness that I doubt they’re even aware that they’re twisting theology to explain and relabel the disgust they feel towards queer people. ‘I couldn’t just be a bigot, Im a good christian. I just want to help these people(to not be something I hate)’

This is pure unadulterated the exact form of catholic bullshit that drives people away. And it comes with the condescension that us trans ex Catholics clearly just don’t understand.

No, it is hateful and cruel to tell me to embrace the suffering that can be cured no differently than had I had chronic pain and you told me to reject painkillers. Except painkillers cloud the mind like dysphoria does, and my hormones cleared it.

And what am I supposed to think of a god that tells me to suffer as tantalus or suffer for eternity. If that god is holiness and my body as I have made it and my sisters and brothers in transness are unholiness I choose the later, because that is the option that made me feel love and belonging and all that other shit Christianity claims their god gives.

But no, this is toothless apologetics from someone who thinks themselves enlightened and empathetic. And so I’ll say this, Christians are called to walk among the hated, not to change us, but to show us to live a life of mutual aid rather than selfishness. Her ministry to us should be helping those of us who suffer the most, and performing the corporal works of mercy

I generally don’t shit on people about their belief systems unless they’re being shitty, but the misery mankind suffers makes so much more sense to me with us being the result of a universal-scale game of chance than the result of an all-knowing deity’s “loving” embrace.
