Here in São Paulo, there’s a party a called “Hotline” and they had two dance floors, one with phonk, brazillian funk and techno, and in the other one anime intro songs on Japanese. With my wife we stay on the phnok floor, but go to the anime one to relax when we get tired and is pretty funny seeing everyone singing along the anime songs while we don’t know any of them.

I’m heavy into Japanese music, and I used to dig anime back in the 90s, but never fully got into modern anime. Any recommendations that aren’t too cringe? I just don’t want to spend the entire time I’m watching feeling sorry for everyone on the screen hahaha

Obligatory shout out that you might get more answers in [email protected], either as a post or a comment in the weekly general thread as compared to a meme community like this one.

It sounds like you want to avoid melodrama or manufactured tension. Here are a couple recent shows that popped into my head that generally fit across a couple genres:

      • Horimiya (2021) - A really well done romcom set in high school. There is a second season that aired recently, but the first season tells a pretty complete story, the second season is mainly side stories.
      • Campfire Cooking (2023) - If romance isn’t your thing, you could check out this series that is a “slow-life isekai” that focuses on good food and fun companions.
      • Bocchi the Rock! (2022) - Not into either romance or cooking? Check this series out for anime girls doing music instead. This series came out of nowhere to become a lot of people’s favorite of the season/year.
      • Frieren (2023-currently airing) - Think Lord of the Rings, but from an elf’s perspective in that Frieren, an elf, has a functionally infinite lifespan. This fantasy series quickly became the highest rated series on MAL despite still airing its first season. It has its emotional moments, but the series so far has been an excellent adaptation of an excellent manga.

I on the other hand brush against the freckles that I hated so a light goes on and I heave a little sigh for you. It’s heavy the love that I would share with you, but it dissolved like it was just a sugar cube. Now the little pain sitting in my heart has shrunk in a bit, but it really does hurt me now. Those silly horoscopes, I guess I can’t trust them after all. If we could get further away I wonder what it could be like. Yeah, I’d be so happy inside my heart. All the memories I have are beautiful in my mind but they don’t feed the hunger deep inside my soul, and tonight I thought I’d be just sitting in my sorrow but now I must wonder why. What did it really mean to you? I just can’t see it anymore. I just can’t see you anymore. Woah.
