So, my thought here is that I really feel like this should be leading the effort to get Joe Biden returned to office in 2025. This shit really does scare me – how efficiently the GOP has planned to do this shit, and how abjectly bad the Democrats are at bringing this up. Maybe it’s because I’m not a political campaign runner and there’s something I’m missing, but man, it feels like this would be IMPORTANT to get in front of the voters? What are your guyses’ thoughts on this topic?

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Accountable.US is launching ads targeting a coalition of conservative organizations over their support of in vitro fertilization (IVF) and abortion restrictions.

The ads are slated to go on Google and Meta and will run for about a week, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Related policy papers have argued for bringing back the Comstock Act, which would restrict sending abortion pills by mail.

“From plotting to enact conservatives’ most restrictive anti-abortion agenda to date to scheming to turn U.S. troops on protestors, Project 2025 is an existential threat to our fundamental rights and freedoms on every level.”

IVF rose to the national spotlight last month after Alabama’s state Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos are considered children.

Kay Ivey ® signed a bill Wednesday shielding IVF providers from lawsuits or criminal charges over the “death or damage to an embryo” during the process.

The original article contains 309 words, the summary contains 145 words. Saved 53%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

I think the part you’re missing is that Biden doesn’t actually support abortion rights on a personal level. He’s perfectly willing to keep his mouth shut and let the GOP have their victory.

Edit: Him and most the other centrists.

This has got to be one of the dumbest takes EVER. Biden has been full-throated calling out the GOP for this shit, and this is a central part of his campaign.

Even if I even partially buy the idea that Biden is a squishy moderate that would rather play at being liberal while holding his hands out to the donor class for that cold hard campaign cash, I still look at the stark choice this November and realise that the way American democracy is built, either I get Biden’s milquetoast neoliberal positions, or I get the Heritage Foundation’s and Trump’s brand of Mussolini-style Fascism.

At least I think that most of Lemmy agrees with me, given you’ve gotten 9 downvotes plus at most 3 upvotes, and that’s assuming you removed your own upvote! We just have to get in front of most regular Americans and highlight the fact that if Trump wins, they have a plan to end American democracy once and for all.

        Hear, hear.

        Thank you.

I’ve been saying this exact thing on and offline and on here mfs like the one who responded to you will bring up any bullshit to try to discredit Biden while also claiming to be a Democrat and in favor of us not having a dictator. It’s honestly getting tired because some are shills and trolls but plenty actually believe it.

and yet… we’ve seen extremely limited action to defend abortion rights.

Are you really going to stand there and tell me that this isn’t by design?

it doesn’t really matter if it’s by design or just that Biden is impotent. Either way, he and the rest of the moderates are failing Americans. Pure and simple.

Sooo… what exactly do you expect Biden to do? He can’t declare by edict or executive order that abortion is legal in all the land… when SCOTUS reversed RvW, they said the practice is not constitutionally protected, kicking the legality back to the states. It will literally take an act of Congress to do anything. Even then, I’m not sure whether they can force legality in states that don’t want it.

            At this point? Nothing.

Particularly considering there was a time dems had nominal control and could have take any number of actions, including packing the court, but no. Biden had to play by rules that only existed in a time before I was alive.

                I dunno.

I’d say “vote for people that aren’t morally defunct crumpets” but then you’ll say “oh so you’ll let Trump win”

I’m tired of this game. You want to continue believing Biden gives a fuck about you… that’s your problem.

Biden is part of the problem. I’m not the one running to be POTUS. It isn’t my job to give you the answers.

Well, have you seen the rabid, anti-lgbt, evangelical, maga, trumpets… because they sure as shit are all going to vote…

So, if you stay home you are losing your opportunity to cancel out one of their votes by using yours and voting Biden.

I totally get he is not your first or even second choice… but he is the one you have.

If you find the risk of another Trump term less than voting Biden will make you feel icky… I hope to God not many American left feel the same as you.

The rest of the world also kinda depends on Trump losing the upcoming election.

I would not. If you say “don’t vote for Joe Biden in November” I would say that’s helping Trump win, because that’s a fact. Those are very different statements.

You want to continue believing Biden gives a fuck about you… that’s your problem.

When I have claimed that? Joe Biden is a centrist Democrat who I would like to see become extinct. He will never receive my vote outside a general election. I disagree with him and party leadership on a slew of issues and continue to try and pull the party left every way I can.

If you want to argue about how awful everything is constantly it would make sense to offer people solutions or ideas. If you don’t want to do that, that’s your call. If you can’t, maybe your position isn’t nearly as strong as you think it is. It should be pointed out that you’re arguing in bad faith though. Have a good evening!
