    There’s really no such thing as a purely ionic bond. Even Cesium and Fluorine form bonds that have a non-zero amount of covalent character to them. Just like there’s no such thing as a naked proton in the liquid or solid phases.

    A solid bond can survive electron theft, as long as the victim stays positive.

    I sent this to my scientist as meme sharing love language and he’s gone on an enormous rant about how wrong it is. That’s the last time I try and share anything ionic. (Although apparently sharing ions is fine etc etc blah blahrant)

    It’s always the same. They start dating and become completely different. Stop hanging out with their old friends and the like. They sometimes even change states.

    Two hydrogen atoms sitting at a bar. One of them suddenly panics out loud - “Hey! I just lost an electron!”
    The anion next to him smiles at the hapless naked proton’s misfortune. He the one that done took it. Negative asshole that he is.
