Judge Cannon may not have definitively knocked the Mar-a-Lago documents case off the calendar before the election, but she does continue to break shit at a remarkable pace.

This week she not only granted Trump a postponement on replying in support of the eleventy-seven garbage motions he’s spammed the docket with, but her shenanigans caused a witness to out himself on national television rather than wait for her to make good on her threats to do it herself.

“Over the course of the last year, emotionally it’s been a roller coaster,” Brian Butler told Kaitlan Collins. “A couple weeks ago, Judge Cannon says she’s gonna release the names of the witnesses. You go from highs and lows in this.”

It is so, so obvious that Trump is acting precisely as a mobster would in this situation, and Cannon is playing not only willfully, but gleefully, and also very intentionally, into his hands. If the case involved literally anybody but Trump, she’d already have been removed from the case by the relevant appellate court. It’s infuriating and insane that nobody seems to have the fucking balls to actually enforce the standards of judicial independence and impartiality, because it is blatantly, unavoidably obvious that Cannon is following neither.

When the rule of law breaks down, people who want justice start taking it into their own hands. Judge Cannon might be risking more than she realizes by being so blatantly corrupt.

…Ah, who am I kidding? It’s much more likely one of the folks actually trying to do their job properly, like Jack Smith or Fani Willis, would be the ones to end up assassinated.

I think there was one or two rulings not in Trump’s favour by judges he nominated from the 2020 election or something slightly involving Trump if it wasn’t for that. I just recall thinking, oh maybe they aren’t completely corrupt, just mostly. However he managed to get the bootlicker extraordinaire to judge in the area he lives in (or where his local lawsuits would be filed) as a treat from the Federalist Society for rubber stamping the rest of their list right before leaving office, coincidence I’m sure.

We should probably stop thinking of it as “up”.

That’s very hard to when moving ‘up’ involves struggling less. It is very much an elevated position to even be less-poor, let alone filthy rich.

Sadly, the wheels of justice turn more slowly for judges than everyone else. She’s already royally fucked up and she’s going to continue doing it. Next up will be sanctions and eventually removal from the bench, followed by possible disbarment.

Just wait around for 5 years or so and this will happen.
