I mean, much worse than the title implies: Arizona Supreme Court removes a law passed 2 years ago in order to reinstate an abortion ban law from before Arizona was even a state, to which the only exception is when absolutely necessary to save the life of the mother. (Which we’ve seen from Texas mean basically won’t happen even if it is medically suggested by multiple doctors.)
This is pretty fucked up, but I hope this is something that locks Arizona’s delegates and congressional seats for the Dems. That’s the only way abortion is going to get legalized at the federal level.
If anyone has any planned protests I’ll attend. I’m also down for ripping these people from their homes and forcing them to watch an unviable birth go through cause the mother wasn’t allowed an abortion.
I recommend voting for the Arizona Right to Abortion Initiative in November — enough signatures have apparently been collected to put it on the ballot.
Thank you. This destruction of human rights is unacceptable.
The ban goes into effect 2 weeks after the decision. 28 weeks later, Arizona gets to vote on an amendment that allows abortion up to viability. How many weeks until a fetus is viable? ~28 weeks. I guess don’t be pregnant right now or get pregnant for like until the end of April.
If you’re still alive to abort your 160 year old child, I think you deserve at least 1 freebie.
