People are going to die. Literally. And sadly it’ll just be another statistic as climate change starts killing more and more people each year. At some point the morons in power are going to express confusion when everyone starts leaving places like Florida.

Well, specifically, here’s how it’s gonna play out:

      • climate gets warmer and more humid, pushing average wet-bulb temps towards the death zone in FL.
      • hurricanes intensify in a statistical, climatic sense. The houses that were built safe enough 25 years ago aren’t safe anymore.
      • all the “help” (illegal immigrants working shit jobs) are going to go elsewhere so they, you know, don’t literally die from the heat - this will include everyone from day labor to food service to maintenance.
      • the remaining providers will make a killing. Unfortunately for Florida residents, this also means that the cost of life (including cost of housing construction, as well as repair and rebuild from hurricane damage) is going to skyrocket.

Frankly, I’m beginning to just get too tired of all this bullshit to care that they’re hurting themselves and others anymore. It’s pretty clear the FL GOP and their voters have the collective (delusional) opinion and willpower to make this all play out. Just let them actually experience what their policies yield, because their policies will yield death for their constituents, and their constituents are what give them power in the first place. It’s a problem that solves itself. It’s not a nice solution, but it is a solution.

As always, though, the most oppressed will suffer the greatest consequences. The well-off will bitch and moan about the cost of their new deck being 40% more than it would have been otherwise. The less-well-off will have to choose between rationing food and sleeping in their car.

For Ron DeSantis, that is a feature, not a bug. The cruelty is the point.
