I have zero fucking tolerance for the Isreali government’s continued erosion of the term anti-semitism. There is real awful antisemitism out there and fucks like Netanyahu and AIPAC are making it more difficult to call out.

The lowbrow hypocrisy of that guy is palpable. Does he not recognize that the protests he calls “horrific” and says “have to be stopped” are only there to try and stop his horrific anti-Palestine child killing spree? The protests are not spawned from anti-semitism, but from anti-genocide and anti-Netanyahuism. I realize he likely only said it as a poor attempt at political spin, but I hope he knows on some level that the true horrific situation is the one he has created in Gaza, and that he is the one who must be stopped. Unfortunately, he probably wouldn’t care even if he knew.

His party (Likud) is the successor of Tnuat Haherut, or “freedom party”.

A party many prominent American Jews at the time called Nazis. (And was associated with the paramilitary leadership that instigated the Nakbah.)

He’d probably call Einstein antisemitic for that.

The doozies, but do read the full letter.

Among- the most disturbing political phenomena of our time is the emergence in the newly created state of Israel of the “Freedom Party” (Tnuat Haherut), a political party closely akin in its organization, methods, political philosophy and social appeal to the Nazi and Fascist parties. It was formed out of the membership and [following]* of the former Irgun Zvai Leumi, a terrorist, right-wing, [chauvinistic]* organization In Palestine.

*my corrections, the copy and past failed because the document is barely legible.

The public avowals of Begin’s party are no guide whatever to its actual character. Today they speak of freedom, democracy and anti-imperialism, whereas until recently they openly preached the doctrine of the Fascist state. It is in its actions that the terrorist party betrays its real character; from its past actions we can judge what it may be expected to do in the future.

Within the Jewish community they have preached an admixture of ultranationalism, religious mysticism, and racial superiority. Like other Fascist parties they have been used to break strikes, and have themselves pressed for the destruction of free trade unions. In their stead they have proposed corporate unions on the Italian Fascist model.

      Sound familiar?

Leader of a nation which claims to represent an entire etnicity and has been mass murdering people - men, women and children - of another etnicity, claims that those criticizing the actions of his nation under his orders are against his race.

Describes this just as well as it describes what was being done back in the 1930s/40s.

Netanyahu is hiding behind the shield of discrimination , all the while discriminating to the extreme against another group.

He’s a pathetic coward, and he’s dishonoring the memories of all those victims of actual antisemitism over the centuries. And all so he and his cronies can conduct genocide on the Palestinians and steal their land.

I’ve met plenty of wonderful Jewish people. And while I’m not a religious man, I respect their faith and their culture. But there’s a chasm between Judaism and the shitty authoritarianism that too many (but not all) Israelis have endorsed. What happened on October 7th was disgraceful and horrible. And those who did it should be punished to the extreme. But fuck the Israeli government and all their supporters for what they are doing now.

Naomi Klein called Zionism a false idol for Jews and that really made a lot of sense.

Netanyahu and his Zionist crownies are actively using antisemitism. Jewish protestors who stand against the genocide are beaten up, arrested, thrown out of their jobs or denied public funding. They are defamed as “alledgedely jewish” in Germany and other places, even though their grandparents and great grandparents had to life through the Holocaust.

Zionism is a fascist ideology that is happy to use antisemitism to silence any jewish dissident.

Netanyahu is one of the focal points of those protests, his opinion on the protests is hardly interesting.

Well, Israel by now labels everything that is not on a “Heil Israel” level as antisemitic.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday condemned pro-Palestinian protests at universities in the United States as “horrific”, saying the demonstrations “have to be stopped”, as he categorized students as antisemitic.

There’s been rising tensions at campuses across the US as demonstrations began last week after students at Columbia set up encampments calling for the university to divest from weapons manufacturers with ties to Israel.

The protests have led to mass suspensions and arrests of hundreds students in New York, Texas and California.

“What’s happening in America’s college campuses is horrific,” Netanyahu said in a statement, echoing concerns voiced primarily by supporters of Israel over the safety of Israeli or Jewish students and faculty as the protests intensify.

Universities have become the focus of intense cultural debate in the US since Hamas’s 7 October attack and Israel’s overwhelming military response, as a humanitarian crisis grips Gaza.

The Hamas attacks in Israel which triggered the war killed about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and 250 were taken as hostages, according to Israeli sources.

The original article contains 315 words, the summary contains 172 words. Saved 45%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

This is the same thing that happens everywhere.

You get a movement, the movement attracts crazies, the crazies get the attention and fuck everything up.

Let le be clear, there is real antisemitism at some of these events.

We have seen the videos and cant deny some nasty shit is being said, but it isn’t the majority.

It does need to be stopped though.

I have real trouble with how the media one sides this whole thing in Israel’s favour.

Where is the reporting on what is being said at Israeli protests? I’m sure there is also some vile shit going on there, but the media doesn’t dare to report negatively on Israel with the same rabid fervour they do Palestine.

For context, the level of casually accepted Islamophobia and Jewish supremacy in pro-israel events, or hell straight up genocidal mania (“Māwet lā-Arāvīm” chants) in Israel itself, is not as fringe as the few actually incidents of actual Anti-semitism.

I know that two wrongs don’t make a right, but if we accept that passions run high and people might get carried away, let’s at least have a consistent framing.

Honest question; what are some examples of antisemitism at these protests?
