I was a psych major. I use statistics more than any other subject I studied. Being able to identify junk science is far more valuable, especially in the field of psychology.

anyone who was planning to not even understand, let alone use, statistics in psych of all disciplines should seek a different vocation.

It’s literally the only way to make sense and genuine progress, especially compared to those 20th century old rich dudes who were high af, used anecdotes, derived causal effect from correlations, and made “findings” that reinforced their own biases and beliefs.

Do everything right, and the number’s won’t lie to you. It’s never wrong, it’s just unexplained.

Everything is chemistry. Statistics were created by man, and man is the end result of a long convoluted chain of events set off by a chemical reaction. Ergo, statistics is chemistry.

Math is a language and as such it’s less pure than sociology. The universe knows no numbers, it knows no addition not division.

And where did chemical reactions start? Where did molecules or atoms come from? Physics!

      Hence English is physics

My friend got a bachelor’s in public health and struggled through stats but passed

Now she’s in a masters degree and it turns out she needs way more understanding of statistics
