It said gamers agreed not to make any public statements that could be detrimental to the game’s reputation, such as a negative review, “belittling” gameplay or making “disparaging or satirical comments”.

videogamedunkey’s entire career was built on these things…

AFAIK they didn’t actually ban anything? I mean, the terms were written out but there was no actions taken on it.

These kinds of clauses are very extremely common in Japan, so while its surprising that a Chinese company would include such a clause (surprising to me only because I don’t know if China has the same type of laws regarding defamation Japan has), its also not surprising that it would be translated in this way. Its likely a clause that was never supposed to make it to countries who don’t have Japanese-like defamation laws and someone made a mistake by not removing it.

I’m not allowed to say ANYTHING negative if someone calls for a staff reference for a past staff member. Not if its a verifiable fact, not if I can provide evidence, not if I CAN SHOW THEY WERE CHARGED FOR WHAT GOT THEM FIRED.

The most negative thing I can do is say “They worked here between these dates” and repeat that answer for any and all questions.

        Yep. Pretty crummy laws, IMO.

EDIT: Wait, are you referring to China? As Japan AFAIK is the same then.

          Nope, Australia.

But thats a company policy. My point is that if you dont like the policy, dont take the code for a free playtest of the game.
