Yes, but I still love it. It was made by the creators of Max Headroom (the show) and both the British and U.S. versions are terrific. Also, Mojo Nixon is in it.
People also forget that at the time it was made, the Mario lore was basically “Mario or Luigi goes to the Mushroom Kingdom to rescue the princess who is, infuriatingly, never in the right castle.”
I unironically still like it more than the new, animated one they made.
