Once I knew to listen for it, I find it jarring and cringeworthy tbh. Really takes me out of a movie

Buzz Lightyear makes that sound when he’s knocked out of Andy’s window.

I think a Nazi or two also scream Wilhelm-like when Indiana Jones punches them off a car.

In TLOTR: The Two Towers, some dude is falling at Helm’s Deep and does a Wilhelm. I think it’s after a scary flying beast that’s naughty picks him up and drops him from really high up.

In Spidey Into the Spiderverse, Spidey punches a crook and the crook Wilhelms about the audacity to be hit by Spidey.

When Luke Skywalker gets his hand chopped off by a sharp light blade that’s burning hot and stuff, he screams Mark Hamilly, and not Wilhelmly. Thank you, Luke.

Same. It breaks the immersion and reminds people that they’re watching a movie.

They used it perfectly in The Hangover. I never listen for it, but they made it painfully obvious and got a surprised chuckle out of me.

Noooo! Those are the real sounds of Aquaman swimming through the ocean at 90 mph!

It was my dream job, when it was actually a guy making sounds. Now it’s all digital and on a computer. That’s no fun. I wanna smash fruit with weapons and make weird noises for movies

Touché, seems like every fandom has its mouth breathers.

Well, except for Our Flag Means Death fans at least as far as the folks I’ve interacted with. Figures that a queer pirate rom-com would generally have a pretty wholesome fandom (although there’s probably shitty OMFD fans too, heh)

I mean I still find it funny, I find it entertaining when it’s found out that an extremely high cost production used something that I have access to

If a movie isn’t brave enough to put their main actor into deep water with no breathing equipment with a ton of sharks just for the poster picture, then I’m not watching it

The movie would have made more money if someone was mauled by a shark and it led to a boycott

That last Aquaman movie is genuinely one of the worst things I have ever watched.

I stole it and I still wanted a refund.

I thought at first they had left the watermark in (no pun intended). That would’ve been a big fuckup.

For the poster? Nah. They’re right, that’s what stock photos are for. What, you want them to whip up a unique CGI model for no discernable improvement in quality in a still picture?
