The World Food Programme (WFP) has announced a pause in the movement of its employees in the Gaza Strip “until further notice” after one of its vehicles was hit by gunfire just metres from an Israeli-controlled checkpoint.

UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric blamed Israel for the attack, telling reporters in New York that the “clearly marked” humanitarian vehicle was “struck 10 times” by Israeli gunfire, including with bullets targeting front windows.

Five of the bullets were on the driver’s side and some on the windscreen.

Dujarric said the convoy’s movements had been coordinated with the Israeli military and it had clearance to approach.

Israel attacking innocents and commiting warcrimes?

Must be a day that ends in Y.

Now they know why the Israeli military coordinated with them to plan the path. So they could set up the ambush.

    the “clearly marked” humanitarian vehicle

They’re white. Except for the massive black markings. I don’t think it can get much more obvious without bringing beacons and a sky writing display in.

It made me happy for a second to think we all agree and then kinda depressed that we all agree that Israel keeps attacking the volunteers just trying to help victims of their war.

Even Americans in their barelly-so Democracy can do this at a local level against “Friends of Israel” and APAIC-supported Congressmen.

They say Hamas are terrorists because they attack innocent civilians and that may be true, but it seems that by the same metric, aren’t the IDF also terrorists for attacking innocent civilians in clearly marked vehicles ?

Verily i say more, If we go by how much civilian infrastructure and casualties have been committed, one side is clearly acting more strongly within the definition of terrorist than the other.

Worry not: Biden will quickly pass an executive order for an emergency shipment from the US to Israel of bullets to replace the ones those brave IDF soldiers spent defending themselves from that evil UN Humanitarian vehicle.

Wouldn’t want them to be low on bullets if, God forbid, they’re faced with an even more dangerous assailant such as, for example, a Palestinian 5 year old child.

I also love Kamala’s “🥺we need to save abortion🥺”, when the democrat president she is vice to is doing nothing. If Biden can’t do anything, how can you?

And if Biden can do anything, he’s withholding that action for votes? Women are fucking dying and they’re using their lives as bargaining chips. Disgusting.

The hypocrisy of the Democratic party is blatant when they run on equality and inclusion yet refuse to hear a Palestinian-american voice at the DNC, something even the speaker who’s family was an Israeli hostage advocated for.

The DNC donors might not want any progressive policies, but the Democratic voters sure do. It’s overdue for Harris to start standing by and following through with popular progressive policies. She had a great start with picking Walz, but ran back to the center with the Convention. Going left on Gaza and making Israel a bipartisan issue with conditional aid is popular and would give her massive support. The DNC needs to stop running away from their base and capitulating to Republican positions

Germany is still shipping weapons to Israel.

Faced with a modern version of Nazism, some EU members can’t be trusted to not support them even when they’re in the middle of executing their very own version of the Holocaust, probably because that view of human beings as inherently superior or inferior depending on their etnicity (aka ubermenshen and untermenschen) is alive, well and as strong as century ago.

The others (including my own country) just have different levels of bullshit when it comes the the Israeli Nazism and Genocide.

The only two EU nations that can be trusted on this are the Republic Of Ireland and Spain.

Germany arguably has good reason for a bad reason with horrific execution if that makes sense.

Given the history with Judaism they’re overcorrecting and I think we can all kind of get that, it doesn’t really make it right or ok but it’s at least better reason than haha profit. Unless like literally everyone else stops first they aren’t going to stop for fear of the potential optics.

I disagree, Zionism isn’t Judaism. Zionism was created out of antisemitic reasons, European nations ‘solving’ the ‘jewish question,’ instead of enshrining protections for the rights of Jewish people in their nations; and has continued to fuel antisemitism as Israel attributes it’s crimes against humanity in the name of all Jewish people, which clearly isn’t true. Antisemites love that conflation

Germany isn’t making that distinction nor are most countries at this point though that could be argued to be because of influence. I don’t disagree with the sentiment it just doesn’t change what is actually happening and why.

I agree, I think the continued support is more about geopolitical influence and American hegemony in the region. If the US pulled support, I’m sure many European nations would follow. Props to Ireland and Spain for standing out and not supporting this genocide

Even whilst supposedly making amends they’ve preserved the fundamental racist thinking that underpinned Nazism by going with “we have a debt to a race” rather than “we have a debt to the victims”.

Because of that, they de facto just changed who they deem ubermenschen (“Jews are good”) and untermenschen (“Muslims are backwards and violent”) without ditching the actual XIX cenrury notion so beloved by Nazis that race dictates the character and worth of a person.

You see the same in many other nations, especially in the Anglo-Saxon world, but none the less such racism is especially poignant when the nation that created Nazism is militarily helping a new Holocaust backed by reasons which ultimately trace back to their own vontinued practice of ethnic-discrimination.

Zionism being defined as self empowerment and not “manifest destiny 2 : rumble in the Levant” while calling someone who didn’t say anything particularly wrong an antisemite is let’s say odd.

No one said it was as far as I can tell, they made a comparison. The numbers simply can’t be the same because there aren’t that many Palestinians left because military aged men have been getting murdered or disappeared there for generations at this point.

Referring to the Gaza war as a new Holocaust, is Holocaust denial, which is antisemitic.

Zionism is a national liberation movement of an oppressed people. That’s the core.

If it’s a new Holocaust then the famous one has to have happened which by the by was not the first Holocaust nor only Holocaust.

Implying no other genocide could be a Holocaust is Holocaust denial boss.
