Have you tried out the Lightly theme before? It’s very similar to Breeze, but IMO it looks very pretty. Like a more modern version of Breeze, kind of like what I’d hope Breeze would look like in Plasma 6.

no i haven’t! I quite enjoyed theming cinnamon with gtk3 but nowadays I find that most kde themes are not to my liking, or don’t have gtk themes built in, meaning that if I use them half my apps will be using breeze anyway. Also a lot of them fuck w/ transparency

That’s why I dual boot. My windows is only for games with anti-cheats which don’t run on Linux. My Linux is for everything else.

    God… Linux is so sexy.

I wish gaming worked well on it :(

It actually does now! and has for years! anything that runs in the steam deck will run on your normal linux computer, meaning that most games work at this point, with many more to follow

Do you have any good news for a person working in graphic design industry? Any sensible alternatives to Adobe CC/Affinity suite?

You can run some Photoshop versions on Linux, but I would just seek alternatives. I’ve been using Krita for ages. It’s not Photoshop, but it has non-destructive editing unlike GIMP.

Oh yeah totally. GIMP + KRITA can do nearly anything you need from Photoshop, and kdenlive/davinci resolve can replace any video software you need

I actually don’t use steam much anymore, most games I play have their own shitty launcher that isn’t supported on Linux, like Honkai Star Rail.

EndeavourOS. It’s functionally no different than arch with the only change being it has a quicker install process.

would you recommend to a complete novice or not? I’ve heard arch can be tough

Yes. I have found that while other distros may be slightly more “stable” Arch can’t be beat in terms of compatibility and package variety. And to the arch wiki has pretty much every piece of information you could ever need

lol I’m getting conflicting answers. I’ve got a 100gb partition set aside for Linux, I’ll just install and see if I like it

EndeavourOS is not the best for a new user, it’s an easier arch for sure but still a more advanced user operative system.

Things, update pretty frequently, break like it happened months ago with grub, or with the intel driver for laptops, and you need to fix them urself.

But as anything on this world there are downsides and advantages, get one you feel comfortable using and stick with it.

Remember you don’t need to install it to try it or to see if linux is working fine with your hardware, you can just start it from usb.

yeah for now I’m trying to not pressure myself I to using the “best” or most powerful distro, I’m just using whatever works for me so I can use it for basic stuff like the web, Spotify, discord etc, and I can always move to a more powerful distro later. and yeah, I always test on USB before I install

No, you can get this same look with distros like kde neon or fedora kde spin which will be a lot less work then running arch.

That’s EndeavourOS, an arched based distro that makes installing and using arch really easy. I’m currently using it on my main machine, don’t think I’ve had more than a couple problems with it.

i recently got an extra ssd so i slapped it on my desktop with debian+cinnamon. if not for game incompatibility and needing to compile dx9 shader binaries i also wouldn’t touch windows. image
