Blinken is in a cabinet position, so that means he was confirmed by the U. S. Senate - he wouldn’t be in that position without those votes. Are those Senators just as liable too? I imagine some of them were those who got lied in the face to, to boot.
Biden appointed and trusted the wrong person, sure. He absolutely needs to take responsibility and ask Blinken for his resignation. But equally liable is a bridge too far.

Running for president has almost literally nothing to do with actually being president in the way our system runs. It’s honestly kind of awful.

Plus you also can recognize that you are capable of doing a job for another year or two but not sign up for another 4 year contract after that. It’s not like anyone wants to sign up for a contract knowing they may have to step down before the term is up.
