Stories that talk about all the bad things Trump has done are only seen by the left. This makes the left hate Trump and his supporters more, while the right feels increasingly “oppressed” by this hate. They run to their savior Trump and the viscous cycle continues. More media presence for him only adds to his influence, negative press possibly moreso than positive.

People on the left should ignore Trump and talk about real issues. It is the only way to defeat a sith.

    I disagree.

Removing these discussions simply normalizes it and allows it to flourish. You can’t allow these things to go unchecked or else no one will simply pay attention. How much popularity did Trump lose from “Project 2025”? Imagine if all the people out there didn’t talk about it and discuss how truly awful the plan was. What about when he mentioned how he would encourage Israel to level all of Gaza? The controversy surrounding those kinds of statements is the only reason why Arab-Americans are hesitant to not throw in their vote with Harris. You don’t tolerate intolerance. That just allows it to grow and take root in your society.

There is a middle ground I’ve wanted since 2016.

Ignore all the incendiary crap he says online and at his rallies. Not everything he says is news worthy. But real substantive info about him should be covered.

Project 2025 was never really about him. It’s just a Republican wish list. It could be Trump, or it could be someone else who gets the next chance to choose from it.

I would say there should be no middle ground. This man was POTUS as well as the Republican nominee for President this election cycle. Everything he says is news-worthy. Ignoring that just emboldens him.

Project 2025 was never really about him. It’s just a Republican wish list. It could be Trump, or it could be someone else who gets the next chance to choose from it.

He chose his team. His team made this plan and he endorsed it until he realized just how unpopular it was. Therefore, it’s his plan. Harris has come under fire recently for campaigning with Liz Cheney and people are saying she’s intentionally surrounding herself with the wrong kind of people, and they’re not wrong there IMO. Why can’t we say the same about Trump?

Just looked it up and realized you’re right. She’s just campaigning with her and some people suggested that she may offer Cheney a cabinet position. Still a shitty person to campaign with IMO. I’ll correct my comment.

If we stopped talking about the negative side of Trump the right would continue to peddle lies only now they’d be wholly unchecked.

Maybe. We should ignore the stupid meaningless stuff… we can’t ignore the real threats his statements represent to the country and the world.

Well I’d argue there is a danger to that. If only the most extreme things get media attention, then all his ideas will get more radical so that he gets the coverage he needs to politically survive. He is the absolute number version (mathematic function) of the political world.

I am kinda seeing a parallel to how Nazis came to murder millions of their own people - essentially a continuing evolution of crazy ideas to maintain political popularity. It’s insane that it works.

In just a few months maybe we’ll be able too.

Can you imagine how nice it will feel to know he’ll never be running again and therefore can truly become irrelevant?

If he loses in 2024 he will most certainly be running in 2028. We’re not so lucky that he’ll just drop dead by then

If the right doesn’t want to be hated, they can try not voting for racists and fascists

The fallacy here i think is to say the left only sees left media. They both report on each other.

You’re right it doesn’t have a huge impact in changing people’s side, but it doesn’t help each side stay informed, even sometimes on things alleged of their own side. This is why truth in the media is important, fact versus opinions (versus lies now apparently).

You’re also right that talking about real issues is important, but overall we pretty much agree on the main goals. People in the US don’t attack their own political parties enough WHILE THEY ARE IN OFFICE. People whine and take a stance when it comes to re-election only, and that does nothing.

Elect your officials you have the best hopes for, and make their life miserable. Protest, impact the economy, public opinion etc … Do like the french and put a barbecue on rails and … Wait… yall dont have rails. Put a BBQ in the hyperloop! During the Trump admin, people protested, were shut down / arrested and it stopped. This is what people should do to Kamala, until there is real change and before it’s too late and you lose the right to protest. Desensitize the government to protest like we are desensitized to school shootings. Protesting once every few years makes it look like a huge escalation.

Walz made a big first step by suggesting to eliminate the electoral college, which is a big source of corporate americas power. “If there is hope, it must lie in the proles”.

Wrong. You completely do not understand the psychology of these people. They will interpret any of your concessions as direct approval and even a demand to be even more outrageous. The only minds you can battle are those of the doubters. I can confidently say that many of the doubters are annoyed by excessive and inappropriate, in their opinion, promotion of woke narratives. Even seemingly insignificant events for elections, such as Gamergate 2, could become the straw that breaks the camel’s back and sway the sympathies of the doubters towards Trump.

In my view it’s the other way around. We can’t avoid mentioning this guy so the media ends up sanewashing him.

If they didn’t sanewash him and people understood what he was really like, perhaps then there’d be less support for him.

Of course some media organizations are part of his personality cult and will sanewash him no matter what. But we at least should remember what kind of person we’re dealing with.
