    I don’t understand why it’s upsetting:

    500 ÷ 2 = 250
    50 ÷ 2 = 25
    250 + 25 = 275

I think it’s because people want patterns to exist even where they don’t. But this one is extra sensitive. The declaration becomes even less interesting in non-base-ten systems. I’m not even sure why 225 would be intuitive to anybody. I guess that’s what makes it a shit post.

I mean the top level post is just incorrect, this is a shitpost making fun of people who aren’t capable of basic calculus. I don’t wanna be like the c/whoosh gal but obviously 550/2 = 225 it’s almost ridiculous that this whole post became so big because of people thinking they know better

        77+33 must be 100.

        Proof: 7+3 = 10, so 77+33 = 100

Just moving the 3 over makes this obvious: 77 + 3 = 80. Taking the zero off both 80 and the remaining 30, you get 8 + 3 which is so obviously not 10, therefore not 100.

Do you think I was serious lol

            77+33=100 is an Internet joke

I think it’s because if you take the numbers individually, 225 looks like it would be half of 550 because 25 is half of 50.

But in actuality, half of 550 is 275.

I don’t know where you got your doctor from mister but it certainly isn’t in mathematics. The post is making fun of people like you defying the laws of basic calculus.
