So he was wearing an ankle monitor, got reported missing on Friday, the monitor showed him being at the gym and not moving, and it still took the cops until Monday to find his body?
WTF. Do Indianapolis cops get weekends off? And no one at the gym reported the horrible, rancid, smell coming from the tanning room? None of the employees checked out the smell of death emanating from a room they should be cleaning nightly?
I’ve been apathetic at jobs before, but planet must really suck your soul out to be that apathetic. I’ve smelled dead bodies before, it’s not exactly something you just walk passed and think “oh that’s ripe”
“At Planet Fitness, we have robust operational brand protocols in place, as the safety and well-being of our members is our top priority. We are working closely with our local franchisee to ensure they are upholding those brand protocols,” Gosselin added."
Ah yes, the problem here is “operational brand protocol”.
Damn. Surviving the weekend in a tanning bed is the next-to-last step in cancelling a Planet Fitness membership. He was so close.
I jerkerd off in a tanning bed as a teen. But this asshole takes the cake, I hope he wiped it down afterwards
Average temp of tanning beds is 75° Fahrenheit, but they can go up to 86°. If that thing was on all weekend, I can’t imagine how disgusting things were by Monday.
Dude was probably burnt to a crisp by the UV.
Medium-rare…?
There was a needle so likely OD.
But I saw a different article that said the gym continued to stay open even while the coroner was collecting the body and staff just pretended everything was normal.
I can’t imagine no one sues over this. Imagine going to the gym, it smelling especially gnarly, and then finding out days later you were breathing in a rotting corpse while doing your miles on a treadmill.
I’m amazed nobody 1) noticed the smell 2) didn’t realise someone had been using a tanning bed for that long.
Death has a very specific smell. It’s not one you forget quickly.
From the article:
Elizabeth Len was at that Planet Fitness on Monday morning before law enforcement discovered Sink.
She said she and other members noticed a bad smell in the building near the tanning rooms. “The tanning bed has a door, I believe, but still, why are we not concerned that the tanning bed has been closed for three days, potentially?” Len said to WTHR.
Someone might try to sue over hurt feelings, but there have to be damages.
What are your damages from doing a workout while there is a dead body in another part of the building?

You could claim costs for therapy, and the costs of having to change to a different gym because you were so traumatized. Heck, if you were unscrupulous, you could claim you now get PTSD about any gym and had to buy a whole brand new home gym.
It’s planet fitness. They’re not known for customer service. They’re known for being the bare minimum mildly predatory cheapo gym.
Good luck sueing, I’m sure they signed a doc that says you can’t sue because some made up reason.
Planet Fitness is a relatively large national chain…
Some lawyer is taking the case for a cut of it. They might not win, but they’ll sue and likely take a settlement.
I imagine Planet Fitness wouldn’t like to do discovery and list all the times their internal safety protocols failed.
Sounds pretty sheltered tbh fam
They don’t even clean up vehicle fatalities in the US anymore, just haul away the body while all the blood and giblets are left on the asphalt for the other drivers to grate into the road lmao.
Comes with the territory of being a corrupt and collapsing country I’m afraid.
If this is true it’s likely location dependent. Here the fire department will hose the scene down since they’re there anyways and towing companies are responsible for cleaning up debris.
extra crispy
Low and slow
Sous vide
To be fair, he did lose weight at the gym
And got a rad tan with it!
