And in two years they might ask for a certificate that proofs that 4 of your 4 grand parents are actually american citizens…

But even “documented” immigrants will not be safe, because Miller has declared that he will pursue the seldom-used process of “denaturalization” to go after people who have been citizens for years or decades, based on suspicions about purported fraud on their naturalization applications. Individuals stripped of citizenship will then be subject to deportation along with Miller’s other targets.

Ok, now that’s just terrifying. I’d imagine a lot can be contested and won over using immigration lawyers but not everyone can afford that.

also… naturalized citizens of the US have to renounce their citizenship in their nation of origin. these are people who love america in ways most of us can’t understand or even really fathom. and most of them are definitively not safe in their country of origin. this is truly vile shit

I see it being used as a political tool to silence dissent. Speak up? Get you or someone you love deported and have them lose their citizenship.

Or it will be a way to give supporters some goodies. Take away a naturalized citizen’s home or business and give it to a Trump supporter for pennies on the dollar.

So then wouldn’t stripping them of their citizenship render them stateless? Maybe that would be the one thing that stops this since statelessness is generally frowned upon, especially when forced on people. Sounds like it should be illegal under international law if it’s not already.

Ah yes, because we’re dealing with an administration that definitely respects convention, cares if things are frowned upon, and always follows the law

Lol, of course they didn’t sign it. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. I’m Canadian and Canada didn’t sign either, fucking fantastic. We routinely get away with this kind of thing too.

“America is for Americans only,” he shouted at Trump’s Madison Square Garden campaign rally.

This from a guy who’s grandparents were immigrants. And who’s been jet-setting the past couple of months with an African immigrant (Musk).

    Really, he means white.

      Really, he means white.

No he doesn’t. He means wealthy people who worship him, and everyone else should grovel and plead for their existence, every minute, of every day. He doesn’t give a fuck about race, even though a lot of his supporters do. He cares about power, fame, and money.

He has literally asked why people from good countries like Norway don’t immigrate here.

        He means white.

He says anything that pops into is feeble mind. He also says anything he thinks will be popular. Trump has no ideals beyond money, power, and fame. He’s not an anything “ist” because he doesn’t have any principles at all. He will embrace anything that serves one of his three gods. If that thing is racism then he’ll embrace it. If that thing is anti-racism, then he’ll embrace that too.

The EU really needs to update its citizenship policies to grap all the talented Americans loosing their citizenships.

My wife’s not even a citizen and she’s still struggling with an understaffed bureaucracy to get her 10-year green card. Given her history here, that process is supposed to be a rubber stamp*. Makes me want to punch people who say, “We just want them to follow the law!” Haven’t heard that in a bit, guess they dropped the pretense.

Not too worried ATM. These people don’t seem to realize the logistical problems they’re going to face sticking only to illegals. And getting information from the agencies the GOP purposefully underfunded? Good luck. (Plus, I’m betting bureaucrats at all levels will fight back in 11,532 smarmy little ways. Those are the exact sort of people who don’t take kindly to having their power usurped.)

Another reason I’m not shitting myself yet, I doubt they’re going after Filipinos any time soon. That would seriously piss off a solid ally who borders the South China Sea. We may well want the full use of both Manila Bay and Subic Bay again (Subic Bay is just West of Manila.). From where else would we project power and/or defend Taiwan?

OTOH, Filipinos are basically Asian Mexicans**, having been occupied by Spain so long that they share language, food, religion, culture, genetics and more. LOL, my wife was appalled when I told her the average American surely thinks she’s Mexican, even with the slanty eyes from her Japanese father.

    * Married to an American 2+ years, married to another American now, always gainfully employed, paperwork squared away, all that. They just keep sending it back wanting more and more and more, stuff they didn’t ask for in the first place.

** Funny as hell if you know any Filipinos. But if you do, you probably already know Jo Koy.

You’re attributing a level of foresight to people that is far above their capacity to wield it.
