Following a two-day hearing in Houston, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Lopez said he would not approve the sale, while citing concerns about transparency in the auction. That clears the way for Jones to keep — at least for now — Infowars, which is headquartered in Austin, Texas. The Onion had planned to kick Jones out and relaunch Infowars in January as a parody.
Because we can’t have anything good in this world.
Ridiculous overstep by the judge. The auction was entirely transparent, and the debtors were transparent about their goal. In this case, the end of Alex Jones’ InfoWars was worth accepting less than he owes them. Now none of the debtors are paid anything, and Jones keeps his assets. How is that better?
It gets dumber.
Still, Lopez said he said he did not want another auction and left it up to the trustee who oversaw the auction to determine the next steps.
The trustee is the one that OKed the Onions bid! What the hell man.
Just run the auction again with open bids and accept the Onion bid again. They are not obligated to accept the highest bid. Surely a fair and just judge would not be able to find fault with that…
It amazes me how few judges you folk shoot. They have shown again and again they are as culpable as any c-class, politician, or their owners.
Another atrocious miscarriage of justice. Good work, Lopez, your future under the Trump administration is bright, until they remember your name and what you look like; then, they’ll come for you just like the rest of us.
For fucks sake…
Now why does a judge get to decide this?
Because they’re members of the ruling class.
