It’s been closed for a long time because it’s not safe the whole way. They have cameras along the trail tho, so when they see people have went up someone waits at the exit to give citations.
It’s basically understood that the citation is the price of admission. Both by hikers and the people giving citations. The reason it’s not repaired is the environmental impact of fixing everything.
This is probably taken a few hours after the shirtless pic. It’s a long ass hike, and knowing a citation is waiting doesn’t exactly make people rush.
But don’t let this make him appear as someone who doesn’t care about the environment. It’s mostly hippies doing it because everyone who does it knows they’ll get caught. Shitheads go somewhere else where there’s no consequences
