How do you shred a tyre on a mobility scooter?

It looks like there is a trim piece missing over the wheel, I’m willing to bet that was the culprit.

Edit: image of the missing part.

Could also be chronic under inflation.

That piece doesn’t look substantial enough to hang on that long and scrape that much off a tire. Like, if it was hanging down enough to rub, nothing would be holding it on.

But a lot of weight on a flat tire for a long time would make it wear on the edges instead of middle where it’s strongest

That is a really good point, looking back at the original image it looks like it might be shredded on both sides of the wheel which would support your theory.

I’d also wager the under inflated tire thrashing against the trim helped rip the trim off.

          Someone took a bad bump

All those post-bingo burn outs in the car park behind boots are going to take a toll…

    doing donuts again smh

no for real: it’s shredded a lot on the side, so maybe it goes against the casing when they have lots of groceries or maybe they drive too close to a curb.

It also looks like the fender is missing over that wheel too. All those open spots in the frame look like where it would normally clip on. They were scraping it along something.

If they’re scraping against the curb like that it’s because they’re riding in the road. Since it’s on the right hand side they’re riding into traffic lol…

I’d say excessive rubbing along and against curbs

If that is a scooter with a single front wheel in the middle, I bet they are in the habit of turning sharply on the spot when changng directions after being stationary.

No… It had 4 wheels but the other 3 were all OK.

too much drifting and high speed lateral maneuvers.
