The report outlined that the fallout is due to differences over the creative direction of the franchise, with Amazon reportedly in favour of “Marvel-style” ideas to expand the franchise, such as spinoff shows and films.

No, for fucks sake. No!

Broccoli is reported to have baulked at the pitch, telling friends that Amazon are “fucking idiots” who are taking the franchise “hostage”. She has reportedly expressed her disinterest in continuing to work with Amazon for any Bond films. NME has reached out to Amazon MGM Studios for comment.

“Fucking idiots” indeed. And too predictable, to be honest.

Broccoli’s father produced the original Sean Connery classics, and she grew up with the franchise.

The bosses at Amazon only got control because of a deal they made where the franchise was part of a much bigger package.

Of course they aren’t going to listen to the woman.

This is why “enshitification” is the word of the decade.

The sort of person who watched [James Bond] was old, weird, had a hat, smelled, and were Belgian. But nowadays we’re about appealing to a different kind of audience…

No, they co-own the IP. Barbara Broccoli’s Danjac LLC is the other co-owner.

The rights to James Bond, and consequently the rights to make any kind of movie featuring the character, are owned exclusively by Danjaq LLC and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

So theoretically Amazon can not dictate anything on their own. They need to be in agreement with Broccoli.
