I have a pretty decent personal music library on my homelab server, but I am looking for a good Android app to play it. So far I’ve only tried Finamp, which connects to jellyfin. It’s fine but I really wonder if there are some other options out there. TIA

jetAudio has been doing a great job of playing all my music off my local/home SAMBA server over WiFi for a couple of years. It’s a little un-polished but I’ve never found anything else that made it as easy to connect and just play tracks, folders, albums, or playlists without too much bloat.

I’m looking for a private, personal, music steaming too…

Is jellyfin easy to set up?

For me, Jellyfin was pretty easy to set up, but some of the software it connects with has given me trouble (Mostly the STARR stack, which locates content and organizes your library).

Right now I have Jellyfin set up as a docker container and it was very easy to setup. It works well for remote access with Tailscale.

The login instructions are on the login screen. Anyway, I’m not really computer savvy but I’ve been able to get it working. Let me know if you want any tips to get started. I know that self hosting can be intimidating at the beginning.

You can just log in with the user name demo and leave the password field empty
