Growing up these donuts were a new year’s tradition. I hadn’t had them for decades, so I decided to learn how to make them. They’re super easy to make and super delicious. It’s a fried donut with a wonderfully crispy outer shell and a soft pillowy interior. They’re traditionally topped with warm honey, cinnamon, and chopped walnut (I also toasted the walnuts).
It’s so weird that you made those, because I eat those. I feel like we can come to an arrangement.
Arrangements can made!
On our first time visiting an actual authentic Greek restaurant, the owner gave us I believe this dish as free dessert. It was good, and I appreciated the gesture. They probably just assumed it was our first time because we were asking a lot of questions when ordering lol.
That’s wonderful!
A small free dessert is pretty common at restaurants in Greece.
Those look so good. 🤤
I am now annoyed that my Greek family have not introduced me to these. They look delicious.
They’re so good! Hit them up for some!
Why is everything in the greek kitchen stolen from the turkish kitchen?
You steal our women and we steal your donuts?
They’re very close to eachother and people have been living there a really long time.
Looks tasty! Are pecans (or maybe almonds) ever used instead of walnuts?
I’ve used pecans and almonds in the past. Chocolate or other sauces are sometimes used as an accompaniment instead of the honey and nuts. Honestly, it’s a free for all when it comes to toppings.
Ah ok nice. Thanks for the info.
Looks like you nailed it!
Thank you!!!
