Summary

The GOP-led House approved its rules package but excluded Rep. Nancy Mace’s (R-S.C.) proposed trans bathroom ban targeting Rep. Sarah McBride (D-Del.), the first transgender congresswoman.

While the ban was omitted, the package includes provisions restricting transgender and immigrant rights and fast-tracks bills limiting trans participation in sports, abortion access, and benefits for undocumented immigrants.

Mace, who previously used anti-trans rhetoric to promote the ban, also cosponsored efforts to amend Title IX, a federal law that bars sex discrimination in education programs that receive federal funding.

Democrats criticized the package for scapegoating vulnerable communities while ignoring policies to improve Americans’ lives.

Oh I’m not an American to them. Sure I was born here to citizens who were born here to citizens, and sure I’ve spent all but a week of my life here, but I’m trans so I’m not a real American

You can just add this line at the end of every article about Republicans doing something

Doesn’t matter. It is all symbolic bullshit, not actual policy. Mace got her desired headlines for her little hate tantrum. That’s all she wants.

Although now she’ll probably try to force a vote on the floor on it at some point in the future, just to score more political hate points

If it restricts benefits even further for undocumented immigrants, then I feel like the ones that pay taxes should be exempt from paying taxes.
