Apparently Uncle Max didn’t appear again because Watterson thought it would be awkward for him to not be able to refer to Calvin’s intentionally unnamed parents with proper names. He could have just called them “bro” and sis." It fits his personality.

I get why Max wasn’t added in more after this, but I wish he had been. There are a lack of adults that Calvin both likes and respects. I think a lot of people have childhood memories of the “cool uncle” that only came around a handful of times, but left a lasting impression. Would have been nice to see some of that dynamic.
