I used IRL mechanics – inspired by the show Taskmaster – to spice up and add some variety to a one-shot game, both in-person and run remotely. I thought y’all might find it interesting, so wrote up what I did.
My family group would love this, but my friend group would not.
Not surprisingly, my friends haven’t watched Taskmaster but most of my family group have.
My cousin was even on the covid bit where they aired people doing a task in their kitchen. He isn’t in the group, but his parents are.
Agreed, my kids would love something like this. My actual group, probably not.
I’ve done in-game time limits before though. Like they’re escaping from a collapsing cave, they have 5 seconds to appoint a PC to handle a situation and said player has 10 seconds to describe to me what they do. That one was a lot of fun.
