I describe this to my friends as “Fromsoft games primarily teach you things by killing you with them. Luckily there’s next to no penalty for death, because your first interaction with a new hazard is usually going to be it slapping you to death.”
I enjoy it, but I suppose it’s not for everyone.
“I died” vs “I figured out how to avoid the first half of that combo!”
I already have a job, thanks.
Real talk: I’ve had multiple builds/saves die because the run-back was too much of a chore and I never came back.
10 minute walk back
Probably my only serious objective critique of FS games. Elden Ring was better, but it still had too many.
Whoever decided to have a lift between Rennala and the grace deserves a slap
For real. It’s particularly egregious when ER added the mini-checkpoint stakes to solve exactly that. Freaking tree guardians get better checkpoints then the bosses.
Playing Demon’s Souls after all of the Dark Souls games was brutal. I swear, the walk backs were harder than almost all of the bosses.
