I just landed in Barcelona. I am sure there is a reason but they seem prime candidates for Solar

Spain is leading in solar panels

    https://euroweeklynews.com/2025/01/23/spain-emerges-as-europes-solar-power-leader/

I remember reading about it a while ago about projects in the countryside

Probably more interesting to manage than every different building getting their solar panels

You can see a list of solar panels plants here

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_power_in_Spain

Also, Catalunya isn’t the sunniest part of Spain

Spain has the cheapest energy in Europe due to a heavy investment in renewables (they have a quarter of all Europe’s renewable capacity) + nuclear.

So big upfront cost probably not as worthwhile.

Cheapest energy in europe is in Scandinavia. Spain is cheap though, that is correct.

In Central Helsinki, Finland they had an idea to put solar panels on the roofs. They decided not to, because it “ruined the rooftop view”. So, maybe something similar?

Similar in Stockholm the king got some solar panels to put on the castel roof as a birthday gift, but he wasn’t allowed too do to cultural values.

Possibly due to wind speeds and structural inadequacy.
