I mean, this isn’t a shower thought, it’s more of a vent or rant.

I get it, but you’ll likely find a more responsive vibe in communities meant for this kind of topic.

But look, quality of life is a huge thing that people dismiss. Until something happens to them that makes them face the matter and make the decision whether or not the balance is there for them.

Some folks don’t even get that freedom because it happens so early in life that it’s something you never can avoid dealing with.

Your complaint is a valid one, and worthy of respect. It’s something we as a society need to address and help people with, no matter what kind of help they need and want.

For some people, care facilities are acceptable. For others they’re a fucking nightmare. But they’re never ideal. They’re never a good life, they’re just life. And, the closer to actual independence someone is, the worse it can be. It’s like when someone can almost imagine a life away from constant care and misery, it grinds even harder that it can’t be reached.

I dunno what to tell you really, and I don’t think you wanted anyone to tell you anything. Looks more like you wanted to scream into the void and see if there were echoes.

So, I’ll just repeat that what you’re saying is perfectly valid, perfectly understandable, and nobody should have to live like that.

I disagree completely. And I pity your opinion of life, community, family, and the value of witnessing the human experience.

I hope that your epiphany for life comes quickly, and I wish you well.

I am and I’m trying to break free. I can work and sustain myself, Adult Protective Services thinks I can’t. Apparently they can show up at my job and get me terminated? FFS I can’t fucking live like everyone else because of what a select few people think. Still living with my first bullies, family. I’m scared that when I move out, APS can remove me and forcibly put me in a group home because they think that’s best for me. All this work to undo what all these facilities did to me for nothing.

If you pick option number 1, you have the added choice of haunting your shitty family as revenge

If only I believed in that sort of thing. I’d go after abusers and bullies as well.

Increase your health span! Live long, die fast.

Do the work now to have a healthy metabolism, strong bones, and strong muscles so you can be a very active retiree.

Feels like a waste of time. Sure I feel less wobbly and weak but there’s no point in trying to fix a life that was destroyed at the start. Y’all really scream at your children to just shut up and use an iPad, blame their stunted growth on a disorder, then have facilities toss the kid around like a game of hot potato until they finally die.
