Could be a lot of things. Could be a tourist visa, student visa, H1B, green card, probably a mess of other things I’m not aware of. Some kind of “You’re not a citizen, but it’s legal for you to be in the United States” paperwork.
I’d expect that the 18 year old is probably attached to her parents’ status.

More Arab and Latino Americans voted for Donald Trump than have ever voted for any Republican candidate before in US history. The Republican youth vote was higher in this past election than it ever has been before, the Democratic youth vote was lower in this pas election than it ever has been before. There’s heavy propaganda and misinformation in the Hispanic community about illegal immigrants. They hate people from South America and they believe that asylum seekers are getting thousands of dollars a week in food and housing assistance as well as direct payments. My Mexican coworker was telling me he saw a guy bragging about it on YouTube around the time of the election. There was recently a viral post claiming you could get $750 if you turned in an illegal, which isn’t true.

I’ve had this discussion plenty of times here on lemmy. They didn’t want genocide Joe, so they got turbo genocide Donnie. They somehow didn’t realize that “no genocide” wasn’t on the menu, even not voting was making a choice.

There is objectively a genocide occuring in Palestine, caused by Israel, against the Palestinian people. Even the UN says that it’s a genocide.
Israel also funded Hamas for years prior to the kidnappings. They used Hamas as an excuse, after years of funding them, to manufacture consent for their genocide against every Palestinian. Israel has even started operations in the West Bank following their “ceasefire” in Gaza. Proving that this is about the ethnic cleansing of every Palestinian within Palestine.
Don’t forget about completely ignoring all the intelligence from multiple countries including their own about the imminent attack and then doing things like firing indiscriminately from battle choppers into crowds. They knew it … They wanted the attack as an excuse to wipe the Palestinians from the map.
Doesn’t matter what I think, if it was genocide or not: they thought it was, and that not voting for biden/Harris was somehow going to help Gaza.

By the way, some Russians (if not most of them) are also voted for Trump. They escaped fascist dictatorship only to make a fascist dictatorship “at home” (in the US).
I think, people from (toxic) collectivistic cultures are mostly uneducated and they don’t realise what trauma/abuse did to them when they lived in their authoritarian (or democratic but poor and corrupt af) home country. Add do this a propaganda that is aimed, among other things, at Russians themselves abroad, that people among their acquaintances/social networks often spread it as word of mouth. They are easily deceived. And as the result, they continue to vote for such bastards who are capable of primitively manipulating people, even in democratic elections. Although, it cannot be ruled out that they choose those people in whom they see themselves, as in the case of Putin and some Russians (like ‘identitiy politics’ or something like that).
I don’t justify them, but I would not blame voters (although people should be held personally responsible for their actions and learn to think for themselves). In working democracy with respected rule of law though, there would be a way to remove those like Trump from office almost immediately or check the votes for possible manipulation. Look, how they did it in Romania recently:

The world in which a 10 and 8 year old walking home from the neighborhood playground are reported to the police and their mother is legally accused of neglect, thus possibly having those kids go into foster care. Then there’s they 10 year old who walked to the local convenience store only to be picked up by the police, driven home to mom, and a couple hours later she was arrested for neglect.

From the article it sounds like just a push, which probably shouldn’t warrant any law enforcement, but if you are a guest in a country and shove someone, don’t be surprised when the host country wants you to go home.
