I’ve been using Etar for years now. But the Samsung calendar app on my wife’s phone looks way better, while I’m missing things like the titles in the appointments once it gets crowded. And the all day events and birthdays aren’t that prominent either. Plus I don’t have some features on Etar like adding notes/emojis to days.

Is there a better calendar app out there? It has to be open source and somehow connect to my Nextcloud. That’d be my requirements. But I believe all calendar apps can connect to webdav.

I’ve been using the Fossify Calendar for a long while now. It does exactly what I want, including Nextcloud sync via DAVx⁵.

I use Davx⁵ for Webdav/NextCloud calendars sync, and Fossify Callendar

Maybe not what you looking for, but must Foss calendars are based on AOSP calendar, with same look and features

Thanks, you all. Makes it kind of simple if everyone gives the same recommendation. And Fossify indeed looks better. I’ve just installed it. I think it’ll do fine.

Judging by screenshots alone, I think Fossify looks better than Etar.

Only thing missing from Fossify calendar is, IMO, options to enable showing holidays (a checkbox per major country, if possible)

I was using Etar but it never set off reminders for my calendar events. I seriously checked every setting I could think of related to notifications, permissions etc. Gave up on it, switched to Fossify calendar and all the reminders are working again.

Hmmh, I’ve never had issues with the reminders. They just worked out of the box and on 3 different phones now. But thanks for the Fossify recommendation. I think that’s exactly what I’m looking for.
