I see that she’s female-presenting and white, but I guess the point is that she’s incompetent. If so, what’s the context? /c/OutOfTheLoop

If you look past the intentionally distracting spokeswomen, you’ll note the ironically cropped sign.

Aside from the subliminal text, the Artan bleach blond dressed in black and red is a vivid signal also. Surprised the Obligatory Cross Necklace isnt present.

The Huck slammed down on journalists without so much as a smudge of her eyeliner. Peerless. Psaki could maneuver around any line of questioning without floundering. Silver medal.

The rest have all been hot messes not worth ranking for third.

      Please stop that nonsense

Just because they abuse the crap out of a valid point doesn’t mean the point is bad

If you go to a doctor, you do that merit based. When hiring a nuclear inspector (or a garbage collector, for that matter) you shouldn’t care about skin color, sexual orientation, gender expression, religious beliefs, height, age, etc… the only thing that should matter is merit. Is the person capable of performing these duties? Yes? You’re hired.

Skipping that for whatever reason is a really bad idea.

So yeah, these asshats are abusing the point just to discriminate, that doesn’t make the point itself bad

What nonsense? Look it up in a thesaurus.

Yes, people want skilled professionals. Who says they shouldn’t? They should also care about a system that favors a dominant class largely because of historic access to (stolen) capital. After all, that would reduce competition and competency.

What’s being implied by bringing up “merit” as antithetical to DEI is that you can’t trust people outside of the dominant class to do the work competently. If that were the case, the problem is not DEI, it’s upstream: fair access to education and opportunities, but I don’t hear DEI opponents crying about that.

That’s all fine and dandy if the system treats everyone fairly from birth and we know that is just not the case.

I don’t care what side of the isle you sit on it is refreshing to have a press secretary who knows her shit and actually answers questions quickly and decisively.

It’s like night and day going from Karine Jean-Pierre to Karoline Leavitt and I am not talking about their race.

Karine never seemed comfortable in the position and always gave off the impression that she didn’t fully have a grasp on the topics coming up. She spoke slowly and didn’t come across confident in her answers.

Karoline seems snappy and responsive by comparison. Quick on her feet and seemingly knows about all the topics she is asked about. It’s refreshing to see.

Someone spewing lies at a rapid clip does not impress me. Nor do I find someone taking their time to think through something disappointing. Unsurprisingly, we heard the same dog whistles about Obama pausing during his remarks.

Oh for the love of God not every single thing is a fuckin dog whistle.

Obamas speech pattern and cadence was intentional. It gave added emphasis where he wanted it. He was an elegant orator that put George Bush, Trump, Biden and honestly most other speakers to shame.

Not many people could be identified by their speech pacing alone. Obama and Christopher Walken are two I can think of off the top of my head.

Fuck the people who talked shit about Obamas pausing. I would kill to have a world leader who spoke so clearly and intentionally again.

After the first 4 years of “I’m just making shit up as I go” Trump and the last 4 years of gibberish Joe I am not looking forward to the next 4 years of “I’m still making shit up as I go, but now with some dementia sprinkled in there” Trump.

The people complaining about the way Obama spoke were using dog whistles. That’s the point you seem to have missed.

People on this website seem to constantly underestimate the intelligence of others and proceed to talk down to them.

I am aware they were saying people were using dog whistles. They also used the word same right before dog whistles which implies they were calling what I said a dog whistle as well. Which it wasn’t.
