This should have happened at the beginning. If we can’t defend our neighbours from imperialistic aggression, even though we have a large army, then we are part of the problem.

How about we don’t drop NATO troops into an active war zone with a nuclear power.

Edit: people saying this is a bullshit statement aren’t looking at reality. Without a peace deal and an agreement to have them there NATO troops are a provocation.

Reverse the scenario and put Russian peace keepers in Mexico the US would be up in arms with groups wanting to nuke them.

The world we live in sucks get over it.

counterpoint: when ukraine gave up nuclear weapons we provided security guarantees and are abjectly failing at providing said guarantees and using weasel words to get out of it… it’s not a provocation: the response should have been well-known

At minimum the western powers should have put a no fly zone in over ukraine even if we didnt commit troops on the ground

All of Ukraine is declared a no fly zone by Ukraine. I think what you mean is that NATO should have helped enforce it.

i’d have said that’s covered by “western powers should have”

(i’d guess they edited their comment or there was some misreading?)

They wouldn’t be there acting for NATO. Russia already escalated by deploying NK troops so this would not actually be an escalation, just a response in proportion to what Russia has already done.
