I am running it right now and deleting 13 years of wasted time. I am so sick of the downvote trolls and hate.
I’ve been gone since my app stopped working. Is there any point in deleting ten years worth of comments? I get that it makes it apparent that I left and didn’t “just get really busy for a while”, but is anyone actually looking?
I think it depends on what you posted. If your comments had value, the Reddit can profit off of traffic to them.
Plus the content staying up means bots can and will steal it to repost, including the comments. Likely they have already.
Full purging your account cuts off that extra content reddit could use via bots to generate more traffic via fake activity.
I had 3 viral posts so yes it is.

I just got a totally clean deletion in one run. Not one post is left.
No post is visible, because reddit only shows your most recent thousand comments by each filter method, or something like that. Very old posts of yours probably still exist.
Requesting your data from reddit is one way you can get a full listing to plug into other tools.
Okay - how do we do that?
You have to request all your activity from reddit and then run a script on that data. I have not found a script yet but I haven’t had time to look…
In case anyone wants an alternative, Redact is a product which does the same on various platforms. I’m just not sure what their business model is.
