You should have seen them in the lead up to Iraq invasion. They’ve been training for years for this moment.

Yeah, I was completely tuned out at that point. I stopped viewing any current events because the world was so terrible and I was so depressed about it. Funny that it’s so much worse now and I’m still plugged in. I guess that’s what happens with age and experience. You get worn down to awful news.

I think this is just a case of NYT WANTING a Palestinian genocide so they’re more than willing to sanitize the message and promote pro-genocide propaganda.

I don’t think people are being genocided by leopards. Is that some lib conspiracy?

They’re being murdered by bombs supplied by the USA under every administration.

NYT has always been imperial propaganda. It’s just become so much more obvious with their screeching support for genocide.

Imagine taking this rag seriously as anything other than disgusting propaganda.

“Follow me and you’ll have a beautiful paradise…don’t, and there will be pain and torture”.

Paraphrased, albeit slightly…but I’m sure I’ve heard this offer before somewhere. I’ve checked my forehead, chest, and both nipples…but can’t find it.

The NYT is a piece of shit.

That said, I’d like someone from the lemmygrad crowd to explain why Harris was definitively for sure was gonna be worse than this. I’m being serious. Elucidate specifically how Harris would have been materially worse for Palestinians in general, and Gaza (and now the West Bank) in particular.

Anyone that said that she would be worse is still going to say the same no matter what Trump does. He could personally go over there and start feasting on their flesh and she would still be lacking in the two things they care about most: she is not a man, she is not white. And they know how fucked up that is. Which is why they always claim that their excuse is something else.

I think being genocided counts as being involved. It seems kind of disgusting to suggest otherwise.

Hamas came to power after winning an election in 2006. Palestinian civilians are involved in Hamas in the same way American civilians are involved in Trump - not completely responsible, but certainly not completely innocent.

They won a slim majority in 2006 and then swiftly culled Fatah (and PA) opposition and killed a bunch of journalists too. They haven’t had elections since, and a significant portion of the people in Gaza are under 18 years of age… so no they didn’t ask for it.

They also didn’t ask to get forced into the concentration camp that is the Gaza Strip by the Israeli state, Plan Dalet, and the Haganah. If you read the history of Palestine > British Mandate > Israel, it shouldn’t be a surprise that there’s a desperate resistance that formed, horrific actions aside.

I’m very aware of the history.

Trump won by a slim margin too, and is currently seizing control. If the US doesn’t have an election in the next 15 years, do the American people have zero responsibility for what its future government might do?

Zero responsibility, no; many did vote for him , but significantly more didn’t. If you want to hunt down the people who voted for him, sure, but I voted against him in every election knowing something like this would happen, and I’m not responsible for it. The same can be said of a significant amount of Americans. To lump us all together would be like bombing a hospital full of innocent victims to get at some members of Hamas.

as jaderick already pointed out, around 50% of gazans are 18 or younger. if the usa was involved in a conflict that killed basically everyone who originally voted for fascists over those 15 years, you would have a point.

or are you actually trying to make people responsible for a vote that they didnt partake in due to their lack of… existence?

Indeed and after Hamas won the election instead of the Israeli backed PA, Israel imposed an illegal blockade on Gaza forcing Palestinians to fight back.

It was not Hamas who brought poverty and starvation upon Palestinians. It was Israel.

Hamas came to power after winning an election in 2006.

And that election happened in a complete vacuum… No need to add context to why Palestinians in 06’ would be voting for Hamas.

Also 2006 was nearly 20 years ago, the vast majority of the people who voted for Hamas are dead or have migrated away. 50% of the population in Gaza are under 18.

Do you mean the thousands of palestinians being held in torture camps? Many of them women and children?

Some of them will be released but their families won’t be allowed to celebrate, their physical condition will not be reported by imperial media, their role as hostages won’t be acknowledged, etc etc etc.

I recalled from the ceasefire plan that phase 1 included all civilians and phase 2 would be the Israeli soldiers. Seeing that phase 1 is finished I assumed all the non-combatants have now been released. I will have to double check my statement, thanks for the heads up.

Angrest, a soldier, was kidnapped from his tank at the Nahal Oz base when it was attacked by Hamas. He was abducted along with fellow soldier Itay Chen, 19, who was killed in the attack.

          lol

          Edit:

I was indeed wrong. Phase one included women including active duty IDF soldiers. Hamas counts all males in IDF reservist age range as soldiers. Thanks for the correction
