“Nonetheless, the Wizards close the Beal Era jaggedly, horribly,” The Athletic’s David Aldridge wrote. “Miami has clearly prioritized getting Damian Lillard from Portland, with Jimmy Butler a central part of the Heat’s recruiting pitch. While Washington wanted the multiple first-rounders the Heat were offering, it didn’t matter; Beal wanted to play in Phoenix. His wife and her family are from California, and K.D. and Booker are a smidge more potent offensively than Jimmy Buckets and Bam Adebayo. The Wizards couldn’t stay in a holding pattern; unwilling to wait on the Heat, they turned to Phoenix, which our Shams Charania first reported had gotten into the sweepstakes seriously on Saturday.”

I’ll believe Dame leaves when I see it. I know the noise is increasing, but both he and the organization seem to generally still want him there

I hope he comes to Miami. I’ve been hoping for for Jimmy to play with another offensive player who drops 30 points on a consistent basis.

these two sentences seem contradictory. did beal demand phoenix or did the wizards choose phoenix because miami was stalling?

Beal had a no trade clause so Washington’s hands were tied even though they preferred Miami’s offer.

that’s what I’m saying. the second quote is irrelevant to the situation if that were the case.

i think Jimmy and Dame would be a solid duo to watch. But I also think the only way Dame leaves Portland is if Portland no longer has a team lol
